Our featured product of September is: Red Belgian Endive!

Native to the regions of France, the red Belgian endive is a tender leafy vegetable that is available year-round, but flourishes in the colder months.  The endive, traditionally used in cooked preparations such as braising and sautéing, is commonly used in fresh recipes in the United States.  Its naturally curled leaves make it a great choice for stuffing with cheeses or fruits that complement its bitter flavor.  The endive is rich in potassium, calcium, thiamin, vitamins B6 and C, as well as having a high fiber content making it a great substitute to add dietary fiber into your daily diet.  Another interesting fact, the endive grows from the same root as chicory but is grown without exposure to sunlight, giving the leaves their distinct shape and color
